I own a small shop, and my old POS software is DOA and no longer supported. I frankly can’t afford to buy QuickBooks POS. All I need is to enter my inventory by Vendor, qty, cost and price (and of course tax for the gov) and do across the counter sales. I want to print a simple receipt on a Star POS printer I already have. Don’t need anything fancy, just a receipt. Lots of customers buy for their work and cannot get reimbursed with generic receipts for “misc items” or something on it. They at least need the item description, price and total with tax (except when Uncle Sam buys it). IF I can interface these to my QB accounting, great! If not, that’s what daily sales reports and keyboards are for!!!
Is there a way to do this? Several of our so-called experts on QB know less than I do, and I didn’t think that was possible until I came up with this need. Search the internet for days, and you are my best hope!
Thanks for helping folks.
I wish I had better news for you, and I certainly could be mistaken, but I don’t think you’ll be able to use the POS printer directly with QB 6. And isn’t this the bottom line of what you are asking? You want to print the QuickBooks “Sales Receipt” on your Star printer. Yes?
You might want to look at the Intuit Marketplace to see if anybody sells a third party add-on for your situation. But with your old version of QB I am not hopeful. Here’s the url (copy and paste into your browser):
Quite honestly I would encourage you to bite the bullet and get the POS system. There’s just no way on God’s green earth I would run a shop, with inventory, without a POS system. No way, no how.
Sorry I can’t be more helpful. If you find a solution that works I’d appreciate hearing about it. Take care and thanks for writing.
